Welcome! I’m Nicole Selph, a native of Sarasota, Florida, and independent stylist, lifelong learner, and lover of the arts with a passion for all things hair. Having grown up in this beautiful city, I had the good fortune of being immersed in a place that is rich in the arts and culture, and set within what some would call a little slice of paradise. This perfect blend is a reason why I chose to return to Sarasota after having ventured off to pursue my cosmetology education, and to start my business in a place that I truly cherish and am proud to call home. 

 

My career in the hair industry started back in 2006, and I have never been more in love with my clients or my craft. To stay inspired and on the forefront of new trends, I participate in advanced education monthly, as well as take on further advanced trainings requiring travel to other locations at least once a year. Some might say that I’m a walking sponge, trying to soak up as much hair knowledge as possible. It truly fuels my soul and excites me to continuously bring back new and innovative techniques to the salon where I share them with you! 

 

I specialize in gray coverage and blending; natural looking, dimensional highlighting; and short hair with a holistic approach. Believing we should maximize our time on this planet while minimizing our footprint, I commit to using only professional products and practices that are natural, sustainable, better for the environment and, most importantly, safer for you. Selphness Hair Studio is a peaceful retreat from the outside world where you will have my full, undivided attention in my private studio space. I’ve designed my space to provide a relaxing and enriching salon experience, allowing you to leave feeling beautiful, refreshed, and more confident than ever. 

 

If you want to know the latest on any film, tv show, podcast, or fashion trend, I’m your girl. Pop culture is another love of mine, and shopping is my favorite sport. I love expressing myself through clothes and accessories, believing whole-heartedly that fashion should be fun! I grew up a competitive gymnast, so challenging myself physically and staying active are still big parts of my life outside of the salon. I love starting my days with a long morning walk with my little rescue pup, Huey, followed by an invigorating at-home workout. You can also find me in the kitchen cooking and baking healthy and delicious food. Although, I do believe in balance and will never turn down a delectable piece of chocolate (especially the See’s Candies variety, which just might be my kryptonite).
